Google just dropped the lightweight Gmail Go app on the Play Store. offering Android users two options for using Google’s email service on their device. But what’s the difference between the two Gmail apps. and which one should you use?
The only difference with the app icon is how there’s a red Go badge at the bottom. Once launched, the apps are visually identical in where everything is located and arranged. Emails in the main list can be swiped with customizable left/right actions. while there is support for multiple accounts and different inbox organization.
The Gmail Go app offers the same core features as the regular Gmail app, but needs less RAM and uses less mobile data. You’ll be sacrificing the Google Meet bottom bar and some of the gestures. The UI design is also much more basic with far less eye-candy.
Some early adopters have pointed out that scrolling on Gmail Go is a much more choppy experience than on the standard Gmail. It also syncs fewer days of emails and attachments to use less bandwidth.
